Maryland Dove at The Wharf DC

Step aboard history at The Wharf DC!

This September, Washington, D.C. welcomes an extraordinary guest to its waterfront — MARYLAND DOVE, a breathtaking wooden ship that brings the age of sail to life.

Docked at Market Pier, September 8–10, 2025, the ship will be open for free public deck tours:

Tuesday, September 9 | 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, September 10 | 1:00–7:00 p.m.

Operated by Historic St. Mary’s City, MARYLAND DOVE is a full-scale representation of the original 17th-century trading ship that accompanied the Ark in 1634 to establish the Maryland colony. Visitors can climb aboard, explore the main deck, and meet the costumed crew to learn about seamanship, exploration, and daily life aboard ship in the 1600s.

Against the backdrop of D.C.’s modern skyline, MARYLAND DOVE offers an unforgettable glimpse into the Chesapeake’s past.
